The Yellow Group is an age-homogeneous transition group between nursery and kindergarten and gently accompanies the children on their next developmental step. It offers a protected environment that combines security and familiarity with new challenges, thus facilitating the transition to everyday kindergarten life.
In the Yellow Group, elements from the nursery and kindergarten areas are deliberately combined. The children continue to experience clear structures, rituals, and familiar caregivers, but at the same time are gradually introduced to more independence and shared responsibility. The daily routine is designed in such a way that the children are increasingly actively involved, for example in tidying up, distributing cups, or in small decision-making processes in everyday life.
The room design of the Yellow Group particularly supports this transition: different functional and play areas invite both quiet, immersive play and movement, role-play, and creative design. Materials are openly accessible and encourage children to develop, try out, and implement their own play ideas.
The adjoining room or crumb room of the Yellow Group is used flexibly during the day and serves as a movement room, a room for free play, or for specific educational activities, depending on the needs. After lunch, the room is converted into a bedroom so that the children can relax in familiar surroundings and pursue their individual rest and sleep needs.
Targeted activities in small groups strengthen social skills such as reaching agreements, resolving conflicts, and planning together—important skills for later kindergarten and school life. The Yellow Group thus creates a stable bridge between nursery and kindergarten and gives children time to develop confidence in their own abilities and to start the next stage of their daycare experience with joy and security.
