Cooperation with parents

Parenting and education partnership

Parents are seen as the most important partners in educational work. They delegate a large part of their children's education to the institution. Based on mutual understanding and acceptance, open discussion and close cooperation between parents and educational staff form the basis of good care. Through trusting cooperation and regular exchange, family counseling topics and support measures can be identified. Active

parental involvement is seen by the association as a criterion for admission. Parents should start and implement their own initiatives, but in doing so, they should take into account compatibility with the daily work in the institution and consistency with the concept.

In summary, the following communication options are offered:

  • Parent evenings with factual information
  • Parent evenings with a cozy get-together
  • General meetings
  • Parent council
  • Celebrations at the facility with children and parents
  • Field trips
  • Brief conversations between doors
  • Written information to parents from the board and management
  • Group messages
  • Information board (whiteboard) in the parents' area
  • The educational staff hold regular one-on-one meetings with parents to discuss their child's development. This exchange promotes mutual understanding and information sharing.

If you need advice beyond these development discussions, we are happy to help you obtain assistance from cooperating specialist counselors. Low-threshold counseling services are available from a specialist from the "Analytical Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy in Heidelberg" on the daycare premises.

Information about these specialist counseling appointments and news about the day-to-day running of the facility is posted on the whiteboard and on the group room doors. In addition, parents can contact the staff directly if they have any questions or submit suggestions and requests to the team via the parents' council.

Making families strong

Since May 2008, professional and free parental counseling has been available at daycare centers in Heidelberg under the motto "Making Families Strong." This initiative aims to support parents in their parenting efforts and offer them expert help in coping with family challenges (and is another important building block for a family-friendly Heidelberg). Overall, the free counseling service makes a significant contribution to supporting and improving mental health and family life in the Heidelberg region.

The counseling is provided by an experienced specialist from the Analytical Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy in Heidelberg, who has in-depth knowledge and many years of experience in child and adolescent psychotherapy. The program is aimed at parents who have questions about their children's development and upbringing or who need support in difficult family situations.

During the counseling sessions, parents can discuss topics such as child behavior, family conflicts, or emotional stress. The institute's specialist not only offers professional advice, but also practical solutions that can be implemented in everyday family life. Particular emphasis is placed on empathetic and respectful communication in order to create an atmosphere of trust.

"Making families strong" aims to strengthen families and promote the well-being of all family members. The counseling is designed to enable parents to act more competently and confidently in their parenting role, to better cope with challenges, and to optimally accompany their children on their developmental path.

The content of the counseling sessions is subject to confidentiality, and the counseling service can be used once a month. One week before the respective counseling appointment, a list is posted in the parents' area where our parents can easily and anonymously reserve one of the two appointments with an X. The appointments take place from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
