Early science education
At our daycare center, we place particular emphasis on early science education in order to encourage the children's thirst for discovery and natural curiosity. The children's "why questions" are of central importance here.
By actively discovering and exploring natural phenomena, the children should be enabled to make their own observations, make assumptions and test these through experiments and practical experiences. Early science education in kindergarten lays the foundation for a lifelong interest in the phenomena of nature and technology. Children are curious by nature and have an innate urge to explore. We encourage and strengthen this through targeted educational activities.
As Albert Einstein said: "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science."
By giving children the opportunity to ask questions and find answers independently, we not only promote their knowledge, but also their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Since 2023, we have been a partner daycare center of the Klaus Tschira Foundation's research station in Heidelberg.
In cooperation with the research station, we also pursue the goal of continuously developing science education in our facility. We do this by regularly taking part in training courses and workshops as well as exchanging ideas with other partner daycare centers. In this way, we ensure that our educational work is always up to date and that the children are offered a comprehensive, well-founded educational program in the field of science.
The research station also offers numerous child-friendly materials and methods to encourage children's interest in science in the long term.
Special proof of our long-standing commitment to early science education is the "Researcher Badge", which our daycare center has been awarded since 2006 and has been renewed annually since then through various training courses for the educational staff. This award underlines our continuous efforts to offer the children a well-founded and stimulating educational program in the field of science.
In line with the research station approach, we aim to encourage the children's natural curiosity and support them in developing questions and exploring them. The children are
children are encouraged to formulate their own observations, develop hypotheses and test these through simple, age-appropriate experiments. This process of research and discovery not only strengthens the children's technical skills, but also promotes their language and social skills as they share and discuss their observations and findings with others.
The children can experiment and research in the specially equipped functional room, our studio, but also in the gym, the outdoor area or the group rooms. Particular attention is paid here to the "head - heart - hand" method, which supports the children's holistic learning. By linking emotionally positive experiences, haptic experiences and cognitive understanding, the children are encouraged to engage intensively with the learning content and to internalize it for the long term. Our aim is to convey the joy of discovery and research to the children and to give them the opportunity to experience and understand their environment with open eyes. Early science education at our facility should help the children to develop into self-confident, inquisitive and responsible young people who approach the world with curiosity and openness.
